Jim Voigt’s
experience in the service industry began in 1969 with Chicago Sponge and Supply
Co. setting up large end user accounts such as RR Donnelley, Johns Manville and
Florsheim Shoe. However the re-seller market produced the highest sales volume
dealing with companies like True Value, V&S Hardware and Dura Clean. In January
of 1972, tired of climbing back into cold cars Jim decided to move back to
Florida, and founded Golden Triangle Building Service Inc.
In a casual
conversation with a store manager at one of the Golden Triangle accounts one day
upon seeing a stack of bad checks Jim casually observed “that must be the
biggest problem you have” the store manager quickly replied that “slips and
falls were in fact his biggest headache and
by far
more costly”
the LIGHT CAME ON . The refinement of an old discarded product
formula that was not profitable to sell; because
it had lasted too long; was begun, tested,
refined and perfected. Four years later Tight-Grip was born and solved the
problem of “SLIPPERY WHEN WET”.

Preliminary street
marketing (cold calls) demonstrated an overwhelming market acceptance for the
product and service; due to the overwhelming need to solve this all too common
problem. In 1989 Tight-Grip International was formed to establish an independent
distributor network worldwide. Turning the marketing over to professional sales
reps allowed research and refinement of the non-slip process. These years saw
the development of a grease, oil, mildew and dirt repellent –
BedRock
that works hand in glove with the non-slip treatment. Ceiling Systems for
applications of non-oxidizing acoustical tile ceiling cleaner, Flex Deck a
colorful decorative resurfacing systems.
By 1995 the
business had grown to a multi million-dollar enterprise with a D&B rating of
2A-1. However the Tight-Grip had become just one of many products and Tight-Grip
International was merged into Sunfire Systems Inc. at the close of 1995. The
latest product ThermoBarrier
coating was tested in 1998 and evaluated for three years in live environments on
actual buildings and found to exceed expectations.
